Depression is an unwelcome guest that overstays in its visit. Often we try to ignore it or just go on with our lives getting accustomed to it, until it catches us. Raj’s short explores this type of mental illness in a really didactic and sensorial type of way through the depiction of a monster that is always creeping around a young girl when she is alone. It’s a really accurate visual representation of this disease and also helps bring awareness to those who probably suffer from it but haven’t got to realize it yet.
A girl comes home to a familiar, but unwelcome, stranger. 'Everything is Good' is about a young woman who finds herself coping with the creature that is living in her home. This creature is, in fact, a metaphor for her depression - growing steadily stronger as she chooses to ignore her mental state, instead of coming to terms with it and acknowledging she needs help. “Everything is Good” is a student project from the National Film and Television School (UK) led by director Neeraja Raj.
